2025 - DISPUTE BETWEEN OUR CLIENT AND ZEBRA (ANGELL bicycles recalled for safety reasons)

Circumstances: Our professional client purchased several ANGELL brand bikes for resale to it own customers. As stated in several press releases by Marc Simoncini, one of the brand's founders, and in several press articles, a large number of bikes were recalled with instructions to stop using them following multiple alerts and a very serious incident of breakage while in use.

Dumas Structure Intervention: We assisted our client in analyzing its rights and possible actions. When ZEBRA declared insolvency and filed for liquidation, we supported our client. When the receivership order has been issued during the first half of 2025, we filed a claim and we analyzed  the situation to determine what should be the potential next steps in this situation.

A press article, purportedly dated January 31, 2025, indicated that ZEBRA (i) had launched legal action against the French giant SEB and the engineering firm KICKMAKER, and (ii) a asked for court-ordered expert assessment to determine the origins of the problem and liability. This led to an analysis of the appropriate stance to take with respect to these companies and the potential for ZEBRA's insurance policy to be invoked.
